Mohanlal, the consummate actor of Malayalam cinema, is rumored to be plotting a comeback with some highly intriguing projects. The celebrity, who is now at a low point in his acting career due to back-to-back box office disasters, is set to rebound by collaborating with some of the industry’s best. In Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, the legendary actor is now filming his upcoming production, Malaikottai Valiban. Mohanlal is now working on a project with acclaimed writer Syam Pushkaran.
National award-winning writer Syam Pushkaran disclosed during a recent press conference in Kochi for the promotion of his upcoming crime thriller Thankam that he is slated to collaborate with Mohanlal on a project very soon. Surprisingly, the scenarist also stated that he has already begun scripting for the movie. However, Syam Pushkaran stated that the film’s genre has not yet been determined. The writer also declined to reveal the name of the project’s director, who is scheduled to make an official announcement very soon.
Syam Pushkaran’s declaration came as a huge surprise to Mohanlal fans and Malayalam filmgoers who had been waiting for the actor-writer combination to collaborate. Although the director’s identity has not been revealed, some unsubstantiated sources say that Syam’s close friend and renowned filmmaker Aashiq Abu, or Kumbalangi Nights legend Madhu C Narayanan, may direct the untitled film.
For the first time in his career, the National Award-winning actor will collaborate with famous filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery on the much-anticipated movie Malaikottai Valiban. The film billed as a mass-action thriller just began filming in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The highly anticipated film is set to hit theatres in the second half of 2023. After finishing Malaikottai Valiban, Mohanlal will begin filming on L2: Empuraan, the long-awaited Lucifer sequel directed by actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Mohanlal will make a cameo in the upcoming Rajinikanth film Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Later, the superstar will collaborate with filmmaker Tinu Pappachan on an action thriller. Mohanlal is also rumored to be reuniting with his long-time onscreen partner, renowned actress Shobana, for the upcoming Anoop Sathyan-directed romantic comedy.
