Ilayaraja’s daughter, playback singer and music director Bhavatharini (47) passed away. He died while undergoing treatment for cancer. He was undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka. He died at a private hospital in Sri Lanka around 5 pm. The body will be brought to Chennai tomorrow.

Bhavatharini was born in 1976 in Chennai. He was proficient in classical music since his childhood. Bhavatharini made her film debut by singing the song ‘Thithithe Taalam’ in the 1984 film Maidyar Kuttichathan. In 2000, she won the National Award for Best Female Singer for the song ‘Mayil Pole Ponn Dharni’ sung by Ilayaraja in the film ‘Bharti’.
Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja are brothers. In 2002, he composed the music for the film ‘Mithru, My Friend’ directed by Revathi. Later, he sang in films like Alexander, Perchinen Vanthat, Kathaluk Maryadai, Friends (Tamil), Paa, Tararai Bharani, Goa and many more. The last film was the Malayalam film ‘Mayanadi’
