The 53rd Kerala State Film Awards were announced. Commenced with a tribute to Oommen Chandy, the press conference began with a moment of silence in memory of the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Culture Minister Saji Cherian announced the awards for excellence in Malayalam cinema with Saji Cherian. Kumar, Yuvraj, Jency Gregory, and others are participating in the press conference.
The awards are from 30 finalists out of 154 films. 142 films entered the competition in 2021 and 80 films in 2020 were affected by Covid. After seeing the preliminary jury, 30 percent of the films were considered by the final jury.
