Allegations of plagiarism against the song of the Brahmanda film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2‘ directed by Manitranam The allegation is against the song ‘Veera Raja Veeera’ composed by AR Rahman. Dhrupad singer Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar came forward with the allegation. According to The Indian Exp, Wasifuddin alleged that the film’s song was composed in the same Tandava style as Shivuti, sung by his father and uncle (Dagar Brothers).
Wasiduddin said that the difference is only in the arrangement of each part. Wasifuddan said that the composition of Adana raga was done by his uncle Ustad Zaheeruddin Dagar and he sang it for many years with his father Fayazuddin Dagar. Wasifuddin Dagar had sent a notice to one of the manufacturing companies of PS2, Madras Talkies, raising this issue. If Madras Talkies and AR Rahman had asked for permission, we would have never said no. But doing this for commercial interests is very problematic.
