Nayanthara and Kunchako Boban starer ‘Nizhal’ to Stream and, Published on Amazon in Prime from Today. ‘Nizhal’ is also the first film directed by film editor Appu N Bhattathiri. From a story told by a boy named Nidhi, a mysterious person surrounds him with a judicial magistrate named John Baby (Kunchacko Boban), who, out of curiosity, investigates it. Sharmila (Nayantara) first tries to protect her child and then collaborates with John Baby. Nidhi’s story points to the possibility of a drowning death. The investigation, which connects the circumstances, is presented in a thrilling manner. John, who leaves according to the child’s hint in the story, encounters the realities in it. Psychologically, there is a mysterious impulse between John and Nidhi, and both of them feel that their goal is one. Though it is a theme that Hollywood movies have tried, this is probably the first time that the theme of ‘Nizhali’ is presented in Malayalam. When Nayanthara tries to give a serious character to the character, it does not seem like a normal act. But it cannot be said that Kunchacko Boban has shown a particularly impossible ability in the role of a magistrate beyond his usual acting skills. However, it is noteworthy that both were able to capture the audience. The child who acts like a child actor also acts in a way that suits the character. That distinction can be clearly seen in the look and the conversation.
S Sajeevan has scripted ‘Nizhali’. The screenplay, which maintains the suspense of the film, follows the characters as they move along with a mystery that haunts them. The director has duly completed the task of capturing the audience till the last scene without boring them in any way. The storyline changes significantly after the interval. While the first half is a preliminary investigation focused on the story the child tells, the second half goes through the nature of psychic experiences. Of course, the screenwriter and the team have referred a lot of books for this. There are many books available in India that deal with such supernatural feelings. These experiences are also present in the memoirs of the police officers who participated in the investigation of some murders in Kerala. There have been many films that have authorized death and rebirth. One of the most important was the 1989 film Manika, une vie plus tard. There are records that cases have been filed in Indian courts based on this. The story is told according to the clues of the places told by the child and can be related to the story of a woman who lived in India, who believed that she was the reincarnation of Shanti Devi. But the reality is that all of this shapes the mind according to the stories he hears. Nagavalli’s character in ‘Manichitrathazhu’ is the same, though the director did not mean it. The highlight of ‘Shadow’ is the background music. It often gives the impression of being suddenly shocked. A commercial thriller does not have to be evaluated academically, but its potential cannot be overlooked. The ‘inspiration’ of all the stories comes from some of the core themes.
