Lokesh Rajendran, a well-known Tamil television actor best recognized for his role as a young actor in the hit series Marmadesam or Vidaadhu Karuppu, committed suicide yesterday at the age of 34. His wife and two kids have survived him. The actor was allegedly an alcoholic who had family issues due to which he was frequently observed dozing off at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT). The CrPC’s Section 174 has been invoked by the police.

Reports suggest that Lokesh Rajendran had consumed poison and died by suicide. While the police are investigating the reason for him taking the extreme step, condolence messages have been pouring in on social media.

A police official was quoted saying, “On Monday, passers-by at the bus terminus noticed he was in discomfort. Some among them dialed 108 for an ambulance and also alerted the police. He was taken to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. He passed away on Tuesday night.” Additionally, Lokesh Rajendra’s father mentioned, “A month ago, I came to know there was some misunderstanding between them (Lokesh and his wife). A legal notice for divorce came from his wife four days ago. He was depressed. I last saw him (Lokesh) Friday; he said he needed some money and I gave it to him. He had told us he would start work as an editor.”

For those who are unaware, he portrayed Raasu, the main character in the television series Marmadesam, as a little boy. The demanding role required a lot of mental fortitude, but Lokesh gave an exceptional performance that is still well-remembered by viewers. The serial Jee Boomba is one of his other well-known creations.
