“The Kerala Story,” directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma, has become an all-time blockbuster at the domestic box office in India. Within two weeks of its release, the film has collected ₹203.47 crore. Although there was a slight decline in its collection on the third Monday, the movie has still achieved significant success. Produced by Vipul Shah, the Hindi film portrays the story of women from Kerala who were coerced into converting and recruited by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS). Alongside Adah Sharma, the movie features Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. However, the film has also faced polarized political discussions in the country.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the film’s achievement, sharing a poster with the words “200 not out” written on it.
