Kerala State Film Award Announces Gautamghosh As Jury Chairman

Gautam Ghosh, a renowned Bengali director, screenwriter, and actor, has been appointed as the chairman of the jury for the Kerala State Film Awards. The jury will be responsible for deciding the winners of the 2022 Film Awards. Gautam Ghosh has been a prominent figure in the realm of Indian parallel cinema since the 1980s and has received 17 national awards in various categories, including Best Film and Best Director. Two sub-committees of the preliminary adjudication committee will be chaired by director, art director, painter, and sculptor Nemam Pushparaj, as well as film director and artist K.M. Madhusudanan. Both will also serve as members of the final judging panel. The preliminary judging panel consists of writers V.J. James and K.M. Sheeba, art director Roy P. Thomas, producer B. Rakesh, director Sajaz Rahman, and editor and director Vinod Sukumaran.

The final judging panel will include actress Gauthami, cinematographer Hari Nair, sound designer D. Yuvraj, and playback singer Jency Gregory. Film Academy Secretary C. Ajoy will serve as the member secretary in both the preliminary and final judging committees, under the leadership of writer and journalist KC Narayanan. Writers K. Rekha, MA Dileep, and Mr. Ajoy will be the members of the jury for the film-related writing awards. A total of 154 films will be considered for the awards this year, including eight children’s films. The juried exhibitions will commence on June 19.
