Kantara Movie High Court Stays Further Proceedings Against Prithviraj

The High Court has stayed further proceedings against actor Prithviraj, the opposing party, in connection with the Varaharupam song from the Kannada film Kantara. The famous music band Thaikudam Bridge had started the legal process, alleging that their music was stolen and the song was used in the film.

The company owned by Prithviraj Sukumaran had distribution rights to the movie in Kerala. This is the reason for legal action against Prithviraj. Thaikudam Bridge has alleged that the music composed by them was used for the film without permission. The complaint was that the song in Kantara was stolen from the album Navarasam for Kappa TV. But the makers of the movie repeat that the song Varaha Roop from the Kantara movie is not stolen.

Director Rishabh Shetty said that the song is an original production. The director’s response was when he came to the Kozhikode town police station to give a statement in the copyright infringement case. The director said that the entire matter was reported to the police during the two-day interrogation. Director and producer Vijay Kirgantoor was also present for the questioning. Both reached the Kozhikode Town Police Station as per the instructions of the High Court.
