Veena George is the MLA of Aranmula Constituency of Kerala. She belongs to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). She is widely regarded as one of the best women news journalists in the history of Kerala. She is a rank holder of MSc (Physics) and BEd. It is interesting that for the first time in its history, a woman journalist-turned-politician. Veena George had excelled as a journalist and news anchor in various Malayalam news channels for over 16 years, including Manorama and TV News. She was the first woman executive editor to head a media organization in Kerala and one of the five Indian journalists who was assigned to cover the 2012 US elections.
