The release date for Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s legendary love story Shaakuntalam has been confirmed by the movie’s producers. The eagerly anticipated film will debut in theatres on November 4 of this year. “Witness the #EpicLoveStory #Shaakuntalam in Theatres from Nov 4th, 2022 Worldwide!” the filmmakers wrote in a tweet announcing the announcement.
The announcement poster shows Samantha and Dev Mohan’s onscreen couple, Shakuntala and Dushyanta, cuddling. Along with Allu Arha as Prince Bharatha, the drama will also have Mohan Babu, Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla in supporting roles. It was inspired by Kalidasa’s well-known play Shakuntala.
Recently, filmmaker Gunasekhar said on Twitter that Shaakuntalam promotions would begin soon. The project, which Gunasekhar conceptualised and directed, has the support of the production company Gunaa Teamworks, and it is distributed by Dil Raju Productions. The drama is still under post-production, and VFX will likely be used extensively.

Regarding the technical team for the movie, Mani Sharma composed the score for Shaakuntalam, and Prawin Pudi oversaw the editing section. For the film, Sekhar V. Joseph has turned up the camera. Samantha has the Hollywood movie Arrangements of Love and the new-age thriller Yashoda on her schedule. Alongside Varun Dhawan, she will make her Bollywood debut in the movie Citadel, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
Following Samantha’s social media hiatus, rumors circulated that the actress has a rare skin ailment and has moved to the US for treatment. Her manager shot down the rumors, telling her that the actress is well and the rumors are “only gossips,” but he made no mention of the reason the celebrity was traveling abroad.
