Concern over JN.1 causes India’s active Covid cases to increase to 3,420, with 4 deaths reported.

There were four confirmed deaths in Kerala, Karnataka, and Rajasthan on Saturday, bringing the total number of current Covid-19 cases in India to 3,420. Concerns about an increase in JN.1 sub-variant instances led to 2,997 active cases on Friday.

The administration has advised people not to panic and stated that the recent increase in Covid-19 instances is not reason for alarm.

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India’s active Covid-19 caseload surpassed 3,000 on Saturday, reaching 3,420. Four deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

India reported 640 new cases of Covid-19 and one fatality on Friday. From 2,669 the day before, there were 2,997 active cases, which is an increase.

The ministry’s statistics, which was updated at 8 a.m. today, indicates that the number of current Covid-19 cases increased in 17 states. Among these, the states that were impacted were Kerala (266), Karnataka (70), Maharashtra (15), Tamil Nadu (13) and Gujarat (12).

According to the ministry, there were two recorded deaths in Kerala and one each in Karnataka and Rajasthan. The number of fatalities escalated to 5,33,332 with a 1.8% case fatality rate.

According to the Health Ministry, up to 325 persons recovered from COVID-19 in the last day, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,44,71,212. It was estimated that the country’s recovery rate was 98.81 percent.

The administration has advised people not to panic and stated that the recent increase in Covid-19 instances is not reason for alarm. As a precaution, the Center has suggested that individuals with comorbidities use face masks.

On Wednesday, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya examined the readiness of healthcare facilities nationwide and emphasized the need to remain vigilant against newly emerging Covid strains.

Up to December 21, 22 cases of the Covid sub-variant JN.1 have been reported nationwide, according to government sources. Of them, one each in Kerala and Maharashtra and nineteen in Goa have been located. The officials had not yet released the details of one case.

One of the fastest-growing viruses in recent weeks is JN.1, a member of the Omicron lineage that the World Health Organization has identified as a “variant of interest.”

According to officials, there hasn’t been any evidence of a JN.1 variant case clustering in India. They further stated that all of the cases were determined to be minor and that the patients recovered without any issues.
