‘Kathanar’ is a film directed by Rojin Thomas starring Jayasurya, who is much awaited by Malayalam. The news of South Indian super heroine Anushka Shetty joining the film came yesterday. Now actor and choreographer Prabhudeva has also arrived for the shooting of the film. After ‘Urumi’ which was released in 2011, Kathanaar is another Malayalam film starring Prabhu Deva.
The big budget movie directed by Rojin Thomas starring Jayasuriya is being prepared in 3D. The film is based on the stories of Katamatath Katanaar, a priest in Kerala who believed to have supernatural powers.

A huge set with an area of forty five thousand square feet on 36 acres was prepared at Pookatupadi for this film. The set is designed by Rajeev, a Malayalee who is very famous for his work in Tamil and Telugu films. Kottayam Ramesh, Vineeth, Harish Uttaman, Sanoop Santhosh and other big stars are lined up in the film. The film will be released in two parts. The first part will be released in 2024.
