Famous young Korean singer Choi Sung Bong (33) was found dead. The initial suspicion is suicide. Police said the body was found at a residence in southern Seoul. The Korea Times reported that the incident happened at 9:41 am local time. Choi Sung Bong rose to fame in 2011 when he came in second place on the show Korea’s Got Talent. Choi Sung had a record deal with the Korean label Bong Bong. A memoir was then released detailing his journey to internet fame. It was also one of the best-selling books in Korea.
In 2021, he said he was battling multiple forms of cancer and held a medical fundraiser. But when it turned out to be a scam, Choi Sung apologized and returned the entire amount collected. The police say that Choi Sung committed suicide. Before his death, the singer had released a note on his YouTube channel. Local media reported that it was an apology to all those who suffered because of his foolish mistakes.
