Kathal movie is a film narration of Jio Baby’s clear social and political conviction. There is a Chekhovian narrative in all of Jio’s films where nothing unnecessary is said and whatever is said is only necessary for any seatailing of the theme and story. He insists on not repeating himself and breaking away from his own style as his own style at the core. All the actors in this film are translating the inner world of each character into the acting body. The senior actor who played the role of Mammooka’s father, and Sudhi, one of the most important characters in the film, has acted modestly and tremendously! Jyothika’s performance is one of her career bests.

What more can be said about Mammooka! One day I wrote here like this. ‘Mammootty is a vine that cuts its own core in its own mouth. Mahasakhi, which grows bigger and bigger as a forest with branches!’ Every time I watch the movie, I feel that it should have been written then. It felt like today, that’s all. Thank you Mammooka for taking all the social risk factor and giving yourself away for a film that speaks so loudly about queer politics. Kathl was struck by some personal reasons as well.
