In memory of the late writer and educator, Prof. CR Omanakuttan, his body was cremated with official honors at the Ravipuram public crematorium. The deceased was honored by a multitude of individuals during a public display of the body at Kadavanthra Indoor Stadium. Esteemed figures like Mammootty, M.K. Sanu, director Ashiq Abu, and actors Fahadh Faasil, Jayasuriya, Soubin Shahir, and Manoj K Jayan were among those who paid their respects. Omanakuttan passed away at a private hospital in Kochi at 2.50 pm the day prior.
Prof. CR Omanakuttan dedicated 23 years of his life as a teacher at Ernakulam Maharaja’s College. His literary contributions encompass over twenty-five books. In 2010, he was honored with the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Comedy. Not only was he a celebrated writer, but he also held roles in various significant committees and boards, including Sahitya Karganda Cooperative Sangam Governing Committee, Kerala Government Culture Department Advisory Committee, State Film Awards Committee, Film Development Corporation Board of Directors, Mahatma Gandhi University Curriculum Reform Committee, and Vishwa Vignanakosam Editorial Committee.
