Hollywood Icon Michael Douglas Receives Prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or Award

Michael Douglas won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. American actor Michael Douglas was awarded the honorary Palme d’Or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the inauguration of the festival on the 16th of this month. Earlier, Forest Whitaker, Agnes Varda, Jean-Pierre Lead, Jodie Foster, and Manoel de Oliveira received similar honors.78-year-old Michael came to receive the award with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and daughter Karis. He and his family also attended the opening ceremony of the movie Genie du Barry. The trio arrived at the function wearing specially designed clothes.

He thanked the actors, screenwriters, directors, producers, and other crew members who have worked with him in his film career over the years. Michael Douglas also responded that he considers this occasion to be the most precious moment in his life. In 1979, Michael attended the opening of The China Syndrome with actors Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon, and director James Bridges. Thirteen years later, in 1992, he returned to Cannes with Basic Instinct directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film also competed for the Palme d’Or that day. Two decades later, he also walked the red carpet behind Steven Soderbergh’s Candelabra. Michael has a very emotional connection with the Cannes Film Festival.
