On September 30 of this year, Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, will have a lavish theatrical debut. Two portions of the historical play, which had a large budget, will be released. Ponniyin Selvan, which is being released in five languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, stars Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha Krishnan in the key parts. The renowned musician AR Rahman created the music for Mani Ratnam’s visionary project.

As the team headed for Mumbai to attend the grand promotional event of Ponniyin Selvan, AR Rahman shared a selfie with leading man Chiyaan Vikram from the flight. “Guess who’s travelling with me … Enroute to #mumbai from #Hyderabad … PS 1 promotions!” the music composer captioned his post. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, and Ponniyin Selvan’s main females can all be seen in Rahman’s picture, which is interesting. The beautiful ladies, who play bitter rivals in the Mani Ratnam film, are seen chatting while in the air.

For the uninitiated, Trisha Krishnan had disclosed that despite director Mani Ratnam’s orders to avoid each other, she bonded with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from the very first day of filming. They “famously” got along on set and had a long conversation, the actress claims. Finally, the film’s director Mani Ratnam stepped in out of concern that their friendship may damage the scenes.

Aditya Karikalan, the Chozha empire’s crown prince, is portrayed by Chiyaan Vikram. The main antagonist of Ponniyin Selvan’s story, Nandini, is played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.  Trisha Krishnan is played by Princess Kundavai Devi. Arunmozhi Varman, the younger brother of Aditya and Kundavai who subsequently achieved popularity under the alias Raja Raja Chozha, is portrayed by Jayam Ravi. Karthi plays the role of Aditya and Arunmozhi’s friend and Kundavai’s love interest, Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan. The second part of Ponniyin Selvan is expected to hit the theatres in Summer 2023.
