Our objectives and desires in life are what keep us moving forward. It could be as simple as enjoying a slice of pizza for some people as it could be becoming a doctor for others. One of a young boy’s dreams serves as the central theme of Momo in Dubai. In terms of plot, Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho stars Kunchacko Boban. Just like the kid in KPAC, who nurses a longtime ambition to fly in an airoplane, Momo the titular character also has a dream that he holds close to his heart.
Mohammed aka Momo belongs to a lower middle-class Malabari Muslim family. His father hasn’t seen the family in two years; he works in Dubai. Despite all of his financial troubles, Habeeb travels to Dubai for a month with his wife and three children. An elated Momo is finally close to living his dream he also has to endure multiple disappointments while in pursuit of it. In retrospect, this might sound like a simple aspirational tale, but it is one that’s embellished by an organic narrative and some delightful performances.
Although Momo’s desire may seem doable to some and the family’s difficulties to realize it may seem overblown to others, the straightforward language by Zakariya and Ashif Kakkodi guarantees that the story is one that is genuinely accessible. It opens with a well-done introduction to Momo and his environment. Here’s a flamboyant youngster who parades about the community shouting about his trip to Dubai. Thankfully, none of his conversations is forced, and most of it is very funny. Then there is Anu Sithara, who excels as a mother of three and has a lovely Malabari accent. One of my favorite aspects of the movie is how close Khadeeja and her husband, Aneesh Gopinathan, are to one another. They have a very slight understanding of one another.
