Kerala Matrimony fined by Consumer Court The court fined Kerala Matrimony for registering on its matrimonial website by promising that the marriage will take place after registration. The Ernakulam District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered compensation to be paid to the young man in a situation where the marriage did not take place despite paying for the registration. A native of Cherthala filed a complaint against Kerala Matrimony for not fulfilling the promise to conduct the marriage despite paying the money. In 2018, the young man is doing free registration in Matrimony. After this, they kept calling the young man and told him that he would give the information of the bride only if he paid the money.

It was informed that if I pay 4500 rupees, I will do all the help to conduct the marriage and for that I have to pay and register. According to this, the young man paid the money and took the registration. But after paying the money, there was no response from their side. When the young man tried to contact them, but they did not pick up the phone, the young man approached the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Kerala Matrimony, which admitted that the young man paid the money, did not guarantee the marriage, the court said. Kerala Matrimony also maintained that they are only intermediaries registered under the IT Act of 2000. But the court did not accept this.

The court said to Matrimony that it is not right to evade responsibility after attracting people by promising to marry them and taking money from them. Besides paying compensation of Rs. 25,000, the court also ordered the young man to pay back Rs. With this, matrimony failed in the case.
