The producer responded to the ‘Kanmani Anpodu’ song controversy in the recently released superhit film Manjummal Boys. Shawn Anthony, one of the producers, said the song was used with permission. The rights were bought from music companies. Shaun also stated that he did not receive Ilayaraja’s lawyer’s notice on the matter.
The rights of the song ‘Kanmani Anpodu’ are owned by Pyramid and Sridevi Sounds music companies. The right to use the song was bought from them. Shawn clarified that he has bought the rights of the song in all languages released by Manjummal Boys not only in Tamil.
‘Kanmani Anpodu’ is a song from the 1991 Kamal Haasan starrer Guna directed by Santana Bharti. Ilayaraja composed the song for the film. The same song was used in the climax scene of the Malayalam film ‘Majunummal Boys’ directed by Chidambaram. After Manjummal Boys became a huge success, Kanmani Anpod again became trending in Malayalam and Tamil. After that, there were reports that Ilayaraja had sent a notice.
