The much-anticipated Akshay Kumar film, ‘Oh My God 2’, has finally received its censor certificate after a month-long process. The film, set to hit theaters on August 11, has been granted an ‘A’ certificate. It’s been reported that numerous alterations were made throughout the film.NDTV quoted a source close to the film saying, “The Censor Board proposed several edits to secure a UA certificate. However, the filmmakers were unwilling to compromise on the film’s integrity. They opted for an ‘A’ certificate instead, while still adhering to and respecting the Censor Board’s guidelines.”

Changes were reportedly made to both the film’s audio and visual elements. Even Akshay Kumar’s character underwent changes. In the final cut, he is portrayed as a messenger of Shiva, rather than Shiva himself. The delay in censorship reportedly impacted the film’s promotional activities, which were planned post-certification. There were earlier reports suggesting that the ‘Oh My God 2’ team was opposed to the film receiving an ‘A’ certificate, given its theme of ‘sex education’.The Censor Board’s scrutiny of ‘Oh My God 2’ was reportedly heightened due to the controversies surrounding films like ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Oppenheimer’. Directed by Amit Rai, ‘Oh My God 2’ is a satirical film featuring Yami Gautham and Pankaj Tripathi in significant roles.
