The high court has asked what is going on in Lakshadweep. The court said it was receiving the information from outside the media. A division bench comprising Justices K Vinod Chandran and MR Anitha heard public interest litigation challenging the sending of public prosecutors to other sub-islands to examine the charge sheet in the case. The court stayed the order issued by the Lakshadweep administrator to send public prosecutors to various sub-islands for other duties.

The court noted that the sub-judge had informed the High Court through the Registrar that the sub-court could not function as there were no prosecutors after the mid-summer recess. The court also sought an explanation from the administrator in the petition.
