Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded that Minister J. Mersikuttyamma who cheated the fishermen should resign. There was a conspiracy to plunder the fisheries of Kerala. Ministers now say the plan is against fisheries policy. Ramesh Chennithala asked why he did not say this in the first place. Ramesh Chennithala was meeting the media in Kollam.

On August 2, 2019, Minister J. EMCC officials met Mersikuttyamma and held discussions. Why was the plan not rejected then? The Minister met EMCC representatives and fisheries officials at Cliff House and held discussions with the Chief Minister. The Minister has not denied this. If it was against the fisheries policy why was it discussed instead of sending them back.
The claim that the company was sent back on the grounds that it was against the fisheries policy is false. It is clear at a glance that this scheme is against the interest of the fishermen. But top officials in the fisheries department did not realize this. The big conspiracy led by the Chief Minister and the two ministers was to bring in a plan that was against the fisheries policy. How did the government come up with a plan with the company that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs found that did not even have an exact address? How could such a company be contracted to build 400 yachts. Ramesh Chennithala said that the Chief Minister should answer for all this.
