RRR producers postpones the film release; Other movies still in the list

Many of the theatres are shut down in many states because of a spike in COVID-19 cases. The nation over has put a dampener on impending first-class dramatic releases this Sankranthi. A few days prior the producers of SS Rajamouli’s pan India film RRR reported that they won’t release their film, they have backtracked their choice. On Saturday, the producers of the movie that highlights Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, declared that they will defer the film which was planned to release on January 7, 2022.

“Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love. In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back the glory of Indian cinema and at the right time, we will,” the makers revealed in a statement.

Due to the increase in Omicron cases, makers feel that it will take some time for the business to set. P Ram Mohan Rao, Chairman, Telangana Film Development Corporation, says, “There is an atmosphere of fear again due to the new variant and rise in cases. Leave aside the restrictions put in place, as an audience member, nobody is confident about going to cinema halls and watching a film on the big screen. There is no choice but to hold back and return after the situation improves.”Radhe Shyam

Despite the fact that RRR has chosen to move its release date, the producers of Prabhas and Pooja Hegde-starrer Radhe Shyam repeat that they will continue with a pan India release on January 14 as arranged. In the interim, the Pawan Kalyan-starrer Bheemla Naayak, which was at first planned for a Sankranthi release, has quit the race for the festive weekend.
