Arjun Kapoor and John’s Ek Villain Returns review

Ek-Villian-Returns

In the movie Ek Villain Returns, a serial killer with twisted self-rationalization is featured. He believes that by killing the girls they adore, one-sided lovers will be avenged, and he will be their messiah. He also does this to gain popularity. His ladylove gives him higher scores for more violent murders. Twisted, I assume? But the majority of serial killers have deranged brains. Eight years after the horrifying murders of Rakesh Mahadkar (Riteish Deshmukh), Mumbai is being terrorised by a new serial murderer who is on the loose.

The movie opens with the antagonist making a comeback. He shatters the glass of a high-rise building to gain entry, killing and attacking anybody who stands in his path until he captures singer Aarvi (Tara Sutaria). Her murder is breaking news on all channels, and spoilt brat Gautam Mehra (Arjun Kapoor) is accused of the crime. The narrative suddenly shifts to a flashback in which Gautam disrupts the wedding of his ex-girlfriend and causes a major commotion. He then tells the would-be groom that he can now marry the girl after she says she still loves him. Why? “Marna chalega par haarna nahi” justifies this.

A video of Gautam’s stunt is made viral by Aarvi, who turns his dialogues into a rap. He tracks her down and comes to know that she wants to be a singing sensation. He helps her weaken another singer’s career. Earns her trust and love and, when the time is right, hits back at her for turning him into a viral meme.

Bhairav Purohit, played by John Abraham, is madly in love with Rasika (Disha Patani). Bhairav works as a cab driver and a part-time zoo keeper, while Rasika is a salesgirl at a clothing store. And he is willing to do whatever to win Rasika’s affection and respect.

While the trailer may have left you wondering who the antagonist of this tale is, after watching the first 30 minutes, you will know who the real antagonist is. But the story’s predictable turns nonetheless manage to keep you on the edge of your seat. There are a lot of jump-scare moments in the first half, and they lead into an engaging second half. And the film’s final seven minutes are the best.

Ek Villain Returns has a compelling storyline and a compelling plot. The sequel to Mohit Suri’s successful Ek Villain franchise film features masala entertainment with massy speech, exciting scenes, and solid performances. The movies have some great feats, but they also contain some poor visual effects. Although the melodic songs and good music in the movie have a shelf life, Galliyaan does not.

Arjun Kapoor does a great job portraying the spoiled brat who is preoccupied with winning. He also had a change of heart as a result of falling in love. He stands out from the crowd with his convincing act and riveting glance. Disha Patani was a pleasant surprise. She nailed her part and was successful in bringing out Rasika’s nasty side. Tara Sutaria gave one of her best performances to date in Aarvi. Although John Abraham may appear overly muscular in the movie, when you watch him shattering ribs and smashing skulls and glasses, you would realise that no one else could have persuaded us that he was Bhairav.

The action scenes and plot twists in the movie were numerous. They made an effort to portray John Abraham as being extraordinarily strong and skilled at shattering glass, whether it be in skyscrapers or subway cars.
