Varisu had a successful opening weekend in India. During its five-day extended weekend in India, the Vijay-starrer grossed approximately Rs. 102 crores. The film had a strong start on Wednesday but then experienced a drop in the pre-holiday period before rebounding on Saturday, with both Saturday and Sunday grossing more than Rs. 20 crores. The Telugu version of the film, which was delayed until Saturday, also contributed to the box office.

On Sunday, the film earned approximately Rs. 14.50 crores in Tamil Nadu, bringing its five-day total to Rs. 64.50 crores. Yesterday was essentially the same as the first day, with the exception of the early morning shows, which account for a large portion of the attendance on opening day. After matinĂ©e showings, the film was selling out across the state. To meet the increased demand, some centers added extra shows after midnight. The film has a massive advance for the next two days as well, with many theatres already completed or nearly sold out. Monday’s collections are expected to be similar to Sunday’s, and Tuesday’s should be in the double digits as well, bringing the film’s total in the state to around Rs. 90 crores in seven days.

The box office collections of Varisu at the Indian box office are as follows:

Wednesday – Rs. 29.75 crores
Thursday – Rs. 12 crores
Friday – Rs. 12 crores
Saturday – Rs. 22.75 crores
Sunday – Rs. 25 crores

Total – Rs. 101.50 crores

The Telugu version also performed well, with similar numbers collected on Sunday, the first day in Telugu states. The Hindi dubbed version of the film also did well, especially in smaller towns in Central and Eastern India, grossing nearly Rs. 5 crores over the weekend.
