In the forthcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan 2, Trisha Krishnan is scheduled to reprise her role as Kundavai. She received a great deal of appreciation for her depiction as Ilaya Pirattiyar, the princess of the Chola kingdom, in the first installment because she made an impression on screen with her brains and beauty. Trisha disclosed the identity of the person she was instructed to emulate in order to portray her character accurately in a recent interview. And it was none other than the late J. Jayalalithaa, chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

The second installment of the two-part epic opus, which was directed by Mani Ratnam, will be released in theatres on April 28. Trisha has a big role in the movie, which demonstrates how her Kundavai character had a significant part in determining the fate of the Chola empire. In an interview with Anupama Chopra for Film Companion, Trisha remarked on the brief Mani Ratnam had given her: “He (Mani) said, ‘Think of her.'” We have practically grown up with her, watching her films, and knowing how she was as the CM because we are all from Chennai. Stop being Trisha, he urged; think of her. She’s constantly touched on the defensive in how she moves and how she speaks. She controls her emotions since that’s how Kundavai does it.
