According to a recent rumor making the rounds in the media, a fitness trainer was recently detained by Mumbai Police for allegedly raping a Telugu actress while pretending to propose to her. According to the reports, the victim and the accused, Aditya Ajay Kapoor, met and swapped phone numbers at a friend’s house. The two remained in touch and gradually developed a close relationship. Over a period of time, they became close to each other. According to the FIR, the actress was violated in both Mumbai and Goa.
The police cited the FIR in order to clarify the situation: “Kapoor maintained physical relations with the woman by promising to marry her. When the actress asked for marriage, he insisted that she continue to keep physical relations with him. When she refused, he started abusing and assaulting her. He sent obscene messages on the phone numbers of the parents of the victim and threatened to kill her. Fed up with the harassment, the woman approached the police.”
The sources state that an FIR was initially filed at the NM Joshi Marg police station in Mumbai, but it was then moved to the Cuffe Parade police station because the crime was committed there. The accused has now been detained in accordance with several Indian Penal Code articles, including those for rape and the Information Technology Act, among others. Further investigation is underway.
