The International Film Festival Will Be Lit In Ananthapuri Today

One more week of cinema spring in ThiruvananthapuramThe 27th International Film Festival will begin today. The exhibition will be held in 14 theaters including the main venue, Tagore. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the fair at Nishagandi at 3.30 pm.

184 films from more than 70 countries will be screened in the eight-day fair. About ten thousand delegates will be a part of the fair. The main attraction is Serbian films on the theme of war and survival, as well as rare films that evoke the beauty of silence. The festival is the first screening of sixty films in India. Delegates are hoping for better films.

British Film Institute resident pianist Johnny Best will be the guest of honor at the opening ceremony. The Chief Minister will honor director Mahnas Mohammadi, who is fighting for women’s rights in Iran, with the Spirit of Cinema Award. A sitar concert by Purbayan Chatterjee, who won the President’s Award for Best Instrumentalist at the age of 15, will be the main attraction of the inaugural function. Cultural programs will also be organized every day at the main venue, Tagore Theatre.
