Tamil Film Producer Ravinder Chandrasekaran Detained In Fraud Investigation

Tamil film industry stalwart Ravinder Chandrasekaran, known for his work under the banner of Libra Productions, has been apprehended by the Central Crime Branch in connection with a high-stakes fraud case. The arrest comes after a complaint lodged by Chennai-based businessman Balaji, relating to an incident that transpired in 2020.The dispute stems from their financial involvement in a municipal solid waste-to-energy conversion project. In September 2020, both parties entered into an investment agreement, with a substantial sum of Rs. 15,83,20,000 exchanged. Balaji’s grievance revolves around the fact that, despite receiving the funds, Ravinder Chandrasekaran neither initiated the business project nor returned the money. Consequently, the producer has been taken into custody, and an in-depth investigation is underway.

During the police inquiry, it has come to light that Ravinder resorted to forging documents to secure investments from Balaji. Acting on the directives of Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathod, authorities tracked down and apprehended the fugitive accused in Chennai before presenting him in court. Subsequently, he has been remanded in judicial custody.This incident is not the first time Ravinder Chandrasekaran has found himself embroiled in controversies. The filmmaker has produced notable films like “Sutta Kathai,” “Nalanum Nandini,” “Natpnna Ennan Theriuma,” and “Murungakai Chips.” Furthermore, his high-profile marriage to television star and anchor Mahalakshmi has been a topic of much discussion in the media.
