Did you know Sridevi got the same compensation comparable to Chiranjeevi for Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari?
Telugu film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari featuring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi in the lead roles is quite possibly the most adored film. The film was released in the year 1990. Helmed by K. Raghavendra Rao, the film saw a successful 100 day run in several theatres and a 200-day run at one of the theaters. Regarded as a cult classic of Telugu cinema, the film which was made on Rs 9 crore budget, gathered a gigantic Rs 15 crore worldwide in the cinema world.
Nonetheless, the intriguing reality about the film is, the late Sridevi was paid compensation equal to Chiranjeevi for Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. During one of the meetings several years prior, maker Ashwini Dutt had revealed this interesting fact about the film.
He had said, “I paid around Rs 35 lakh to Chiranjeevi and Rs 25 lakh to Sridevi. Her craze was at peaks during that time and she received salary on par with star heroes.”
For the unversed, this was the third time Chiranjeevi and Sridevi were paired in a film and were called sizzling onscreen pair then, at that point. The film was dubbed in Tamil as Kaadhal Devathai, in Hindi as Aadmi Aur Apsara, and in Malayalam as Hai Sundari. The makers left no stone unturned to capitalize on Sridevi’s popularity.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Chiranjeevi is looking forward to the grand release of Acharya, co-starring Ram Charan, Kajal Aggarwal, and Pooja Hegde. Acharya, which was scheduled to release 4 February 2022, has got postponed and now is set to hit the theaters on April 1.
