Scores of enthusiasts of amazing artist SP Balasubrahmanyam across the world will feel a lot of happiness on Tuesday when his child SP Charan, who is likewise an entertainer, maker, and vocalist himself, gets the Padma Vibhushan, one of the country’s most noteworthy distinctions, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for his late dad.
Charan, who was en route to New Delhi to partake in the esteemed occasion which is to be hung on Tuesday, told media from the Chennai air terminal that this was a “surreal second” for him.
“We are appreciative to the public authority of India for having a respected father with this honor. This really feels strange. We anticipated that this should happen when father was near. it’s a moment of mixed emotion for us,” a visibly moved Charan said and pointed out that the last time they had gone to the Rashtrapati Bhavan was to collect the Padma Vibhushan award.

Six-time National Award-winning sensation Balasubrahmanyam, a legend whose amazing accomplishments are unrivaled in the field of singing and music, has sung over an astounding 40,000 melodies. His resonant voice has acquired him crores of fans, cutting across societies, dialects, and nations. The virtuoso that he was, Balasubrahmanyam won various honors including 25 Nandi Awards given by the territory of Andhra Pradesh.
The talented artist, affectionately known as ‘SPB’, died in September last year after he created complexities brought about by Covid-19. Recently, the public authority of India reported the Padma Vibhushan (Posthumous) to Balasubrahmanyam.
