Any film lover in the country will answer “Manichithrathazhu” or one of its remakes when asked what their favorite Indian psychological horror movie is. Shobana has just shared an intriguing fact regarding the original Manichithrathazhu movie, which was directed by Fazil and starred by Suresh Gopi, Shobana, and Mohanlal. The movie has achieved cult status in pop culture for all the right reasons.

Undoubtedly, the song “Oru Murai Vanthu Paarthaaya” from “Manichithrathazhu,” in which Ganga (played by Shobana), entirely turns into Nagavalli, the dancer, is one of the film’s most captivating moments. You may have already observed that the floor on which Ganga is dancing was sparkling; this song is important to the story. However, that wasn’t an organic shine! In a recent social media post, Shobana talked about how “frightening” it was to film the song. Hey, she didn’t come across a ghost, so don’t draw any conclusions just yet!

Shobana mentioned that the floor was gleaming because it was polished with oil. And dancing on it is undoubtedly scary. In her video, Shobana said, “So most of you would have seen ‘Manichithrathazhu’. Remember that famous song that was shot in the Navarathri Mandapam? It had this beautiful gleaming black polished floor, which was actually gleaming because of oil. And, both Sridharji and me, we had to dance on it. So, it was a very very scary proposition.”
