Actress Sheela temporarily retired from acting in 1980 with the film Sphotanam. However, he made a comeback in 2003 with Sathyan Anthikkad’s Manassinakkare. Now in an interview, Sheela is opening her mind about the circumstances that led her to act glamorously in the film.

I have never done extravagant glamor roles in a movie. So I avoided two films that forced me to do extravagant roles. I have never worn more glamor roles in a movie. I just had to be a little glamorous for a character. It’s only because that character deserves it. I have withdrawn from films where I had to wear overly glamorous outfits. One of them was a Tamil film. To this day, I have no regrets. I have only done what I feel is right.
When the director told me to wear a swimsuit for a movie, I said no. Similarly, when they asked me to play volleyball wearing shorts in the movie Ullasa Yatra, I refused. But in the movie Kapalika, I acted in a somewhat glamorous role. Because in it I played the role of a bad woman. Mine was a character who made a living by selling women. I acted in those films because the story and the subject matter of the film are so strong and relevant. I was not ready to just show off my body without anything else.
