Seetharama Kalyana Movie Review
When it comes to cinema, most often one identifies a filmmaker with a brand of cinema. And A Harsha has too is one such, whose films are large scale emotional yet action-filled commercial potboilers. Seetharama Kalyana too has all of that and more. The film is high on action, emotions, comedy and melodrama ensuring those that want their typical masala fare get that. Like most such large scale dramas, this film also seems a tad long, but it does have enough happening to keep one engrossed at most times.
The plot of the film is simple – there is a boy who is head over heels in love with a girl. But the girl is apprehensive to accept reality. To add further roadblocks to this relationship blossoming are extended families, hidden truths and some feuds. The film begins on a rather cutesy note with it turning into the typical Barjatya-style romantic family drama. But, the film does have some good action moments akin to the Rohit Shettyesque stunts. The film is a well mixed cocktail of a romcom and an action-oriented family drama. There may be scenes or situations that remind you of other such big-budget dramas, but the director has brought his own signature freshness that works.
When it comes to performances, Nikhil Kumar shows a lot of improvement from his debut and the effort he has put in shows. Action and dancing seem his forte, while some bettering of his emotional scenes will ensure him being counted as someone to watch out for. Rachita Ram seems to have a role that suits her perfectly and she has excelled. The ensemble cast is big, with Sarath Kumar and P Ravi Shankar leading them. There are a few songs that linger on, especially the romantic Ninna Raja Naanu.
Seetharama Kalyana is meant for those who like their large scale commercial dramas, which have a heady dose of action, comedy, romance and emotions.
