Mahesh Babu, the Telugu superstar, is set to work with renowned filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas for the third time on his much-anticipated 28th Telugu film. The film, tentatively titled SSMB 28, is billed as a commercial entertainer and is currently in the final stages of production. The Mahesh Babu-starrer was supposed to be released in theatres in the summer of 2022. However, the project was delayed for more than a year due to a variety of factors.
According to the most recent news, Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights to SSMB 28. On January 14, Saturday, Netflix India announced the exciting update via their official Twitter handle. “Penu thuphaanu thalonchaina choodaataniki memu ready. Meeru? #SSMB28 is coming on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada as a post-theatrical release!” reads Netflix India’s post. According to reports, the OTT behemoth has acquired the post-theatrical rights to Mahesh Babu and Trivikram’s film for a record sum.
The highly anticipated project is Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas’ third collaboration, following the massive success of Athadu in 2005 and Khaleja in 2010. The female lead in the much-anticipated project is popular actress Pooja Hegde. As a result, the untitled project marks Pooja’s reunion with the superstar, with whom she appeared in the 2019 blockbuster Maharshi. Malayalam actress Samyuktha Menon is also said to have a key role in the highly anticipated film.
The makers of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas’ film are reportedly planning to reveal the official title and first-look poster on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, which falls on January 15, Sunday. The highly anticipated film is set to be released in theatres on April 28, this year.
