Narendra Modi pays tribute to singer Lata Mangeshkar

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar died today at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on 6th Feb. She passed on as a result of various organ failures after her hospitalization post-COVID-19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle to mourn the loss of the singerLata Mangeshkar 42

He shared an image with Lata Ji and wrote a sincere tribute.’I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerize people,’  he tweeted.

PM further composed, ‘Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India.’

Narendra Modi wrote about his interaction with the singer and composed, ‘I consider it my honor that I have always received immense affection from Lata Didi. My interactions with her will remain unforgettable. I grieve with my fellow Indians on the passing away of Lata Didi. Spoke to her family and expressed condolences. Om Shanti.’

Known as the Queen of melody, she started training in singing at the age of five. The singer started her career in 1942 after her father’s demise. She has sung 25,000 tunes in upwards of 36 Indian dialects including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali in the last 7 decades.
