Famed dancer and reality show star Manjusha’s sudden demise has stunned her friends and teachers at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady where she was a post-graduate student.

Manjusha’s classmates noted that she was passionate about her studies and a dedicated mother too. Manjusha had returned to the university to continue her studies just 90 days after giving birth to her first child. Her mother accompanied her with the one-and-a-half year-old baby so that Manjusha could feed it. KM Abu, the head of the department of dance, remembered that Manjusha was equally good in academics and performing arts.
Manjusha had enrolled for BA Mohiniyattam at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit after passing MA Literature from the Sree Sankara College at Kalady. A trained dancer from childhood itself, Manjusha became a known face after she participated in a popular TV reality show.
On 27 July, Manjusha had left her home for the university a little early as she had to submit her assignments. She suffered grievous injuries after her two–wheeler collided with a speeding lorry at Thannipuuzha, near Kalady, Her classmate Anjana was on the pillion. Both were admitted to the Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly. However, Manjusha, who was shifted to Laksehore Hospital in Kochi after her condition became critical, passed away on Thursday, 2nd August 2018.
Often Manjusha drove a car to the university with Anjana and S Sindu, who is a faculty at the college. Sindu remembered that Manjusha was an impeccable student who had great respect and love for her teachers.
Along with studies, the dancer had been running a dance school, ‘Lasya’, at Valayanchirangara, where more than 200 students are learning various dance forms. MS Ayesha, a Mohiyattam teacher at the university, too has fond memories of her favourite student. “It was Manjusha who used to clear the doubts of her classmates on the perfect dance moves,” Ayesha recalled.
