Kozhikode Police Will Question Rishabh Shetty Today

The investigating officer will still question the film’s director Rishabh Shetty and producer Vijay Kiragandur, the opposite parties in the Kantara movie song copyright case. The other day, they were interrogated on a complaint filed by Thaikudam Bridge and Mathrubhumi. There are nine opposite parties in the case, including Prithviraj, the distributor of the film in Kerala.

Both have been directed to appear at the Kozhikode Town Police Station in the morning. Both were present at the station yesterday. The High Court had earlier granted conditional bail to Rishabh Shetty and Vijay Kiragandur in the case. The allegation was that the music for the song Varaharupam from the movie Kantara infringed the copyright of the song Navarasam composed by Thaikudam Bridge Music Band.

After the controversy, Thaikudam Bridge who owns the Navarasam song lodged a complaint with the Kozhikode Town Police against the producer and director of Kantara Cinema. The Supreme Court had earlier stayed the High Court order banning the Kantara movie featuring Varaharupa. The action of the Supreme Court said that such instructions are not necessary while granting bail in copyright infringement cases.
