The bilingual movie Varisu starring Thalapathy Vijay has run into controversy for employing elephants for filming without official approval. According to sources, the Animal Welfare Association has warned the movie’s producers for utilizing five elephants during the shoot without their consent.

The crew from Varisu has been requested by the forest authority to provide an explanation for the problem within the next week, failing which appropriate action would be taken. If animals are displayed, it is required that everyone register with the Board. The creators of Varisu have not yet released a statement on the subject, though.

The creators uploaded a number of Varisu stills on social media a few days ago, and those posts quickly went viral. In the movie, Vijay appears fashionable and young. The actor’s part in the movie hasn’t been made public, though.

Rashmika Mandanna will star alongside Vijay in Varisu, which was directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Shaam, Khushbu, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, and Samyuktha will play supporting parts. Varisu, a Sri Venkateswara Creations production by Dil Raju and Sirish, is getting ready for Pongal 2023.

For Pongal 2023, the films Varusudu in Telugu and Varisu in Tamil are anticipated to hit theatres. Although Vijay has always benefited from the festive release, it appears that this time the Producers Council’s new decision would have an impact on Telugu states. The Telugu Producers Council declared that theatres should only give precedence to “Telugu straight films,” and this is anticipated to have an impact on the release.
