Tamil Lyricist Kabilan’s daughter dies by suicide

The daughter of renowned Tamil lyricist Kabilan was found dead at her home in Arumbakkam. According to reports, Thoorigai, a costume designer by trade, hanged herself to death. The cause of her action is still a mystery, and authorities are presently looking into the matter. Thoorigai was employed by the publication “Being Woman” as an institutional editor. In the year 2020, the magazine’s first edition was published by the filmmakers Pa. Ranjith, Cheran, and actress Vimala Raman.

The well-known Tamil film lyricist, who is from Puducherry, lived with his family in Arumbakkam, Chennai’s MMDA Colony, and now that his daughter Thoorigai committed suicide, everyone is in a state of profound shock. Thoorigai Kabilan’s body is in Saligramam, Chennai, a private hospital. The news source reported that Thoorigai had been seen seeming melancholy and staying at her residence for the past few days without leaving. Many movie stars are currently sending their sympathies to the well-known songwriter.

Thoorigai, an MBA graduate, had designed costumes for a number of Tamil films and published numerous essays in top English-language publications. She also served as many Tamil actors’ stylists. She started a digital magazine called “Being Women” in 2020, where she published interviews with women who had accomplished a lot in many fields.

Actors Cheran and Vimala Raman, as well as director Pa Ranjith, launched the magazine. To share empowering tales of successful women, Thoorigai started her online magazine. For her magazine’s second anniversary, she intended to host the Friendship Icon Award ceremony on the IIT Madras campus.
