The autobiographical drama Soorarai Pottru, which will be released in 2020, was the first project Suriya worked on with the renowned director Sudha Kongara. Suriya and his wife, actress Jyotika, under their own label 2D Entertainments, funded the film, which was largely based on the life of Air Deccan’s founder GR Gopinath. At the 68th National Film Trophies, the critically praised movie took home big by receiving 5 awards across several categories. The Swarna Kamal award for Best Feature Film went to the movie, which also won the best actor and best actress awards for Suriya and leading lady Aparna Balamurali.

At the magnificent National Film Awards ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday, September 30, the Soorarai Pottru team was presented with awards by Droupadi Murmu, the President of India. Jyotika, the proud producer who received the Swarna Kamal award took to her official Instagram page and shared glimpses of the great evening. “Proud and blessed!” wrote the actress-producer, who shared pictures with husband Suriya, kids Dev and Diya, Soorarai Pottru director Sudha Kongara, and leading lady Aparna Balamurali.

Jyotika was stunning in the photographs wearing the cream and grey silk saree. With silver jewelry, malli poo, and a pottu, she completed her look. Suriya wore a traditional cream-colored veshti and sattai as he posed with his wife. On the other side, the actress Aparna Balamurali and director Sudha Kongara both looked lovely in cream and purple sarees, respectively. Diya and Dev, the children of Suriya and Jyotika, may be seen in the photos posing with their parents’ National Awards.

Suriya made his digital debut with Soorarai Pottru, which received a direct OTT distribution on Amazon Prime Video. Due to the first wave of the epidemic, the Sudha Kongara-directed film, which was initially intended for a theatrical release, ultimately followed the OTT route.
