Is Dhanush’s Naane Varuven competing with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan?

Dhanush-Ponniyin-Selvan

Today marks the official release of Naane Varuven, the eagerly awaited Dhanush film. The project, which is expected to be a psychological thriller, sees the National Award-winning Actor and his renowned filmmaker elder brother Selvaraghavan reunited. It is clear from the just released official teaser that the talented director’s next film, Naane Varuven, will be yet another distinctive cinematic experience. However, the audience, in particular Dhanush fans, are not pleased with the movie’s box office competition with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu recently told in an interview that Ponniyin Selvan, one of the largest films ever made in the Tamil cinema business, is not in direct competition with Naane Varuven. In order to ensure a safe launch, he also said that Naane Varuven is not shielding in tandem with such a large release. The company planned to release the Dhanush-starring film on September 29, one day before Ponniyin Selvan I, because they didn’t want to miss the Navaratri season, said the seasoned producer.

The Naane Varuven producers, meanwhile, have also disappointed Tamil moviegoers by not doing enough to promote the movie. On the other side, Ponniyin Selvan is attracting national notice because of its extensive promotions. The latest reports suggest that director Selvaraghavan and his team decided to not go for active promotions, as they wanted to maintain the mysterious effect created by the film’s promising teaser and the haunting first single composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

In the movie Naane Varuven, Dhanush plays two characters: Kathir and Prabhu. The teaser hinted that one of the characters played by the starring guy has dark undertones, despite the fact that it didn’t reveal anything about the movie’s plot. On the other side, Ponniyin Selvan has a fantastic cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha Krishnan. The movie, which is based on the same-titled novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, will be released in two parts.
