Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan OTT rights sold at a massive price

The Tamil actor returned to the big screen after a two-year of a gap with Mahaan, which was immediately published on Amazon Prime Video because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He then played the lead in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: 1 and R Ajay Gnanamuthu’s Cobra this year. Following PS-1’s enormous success, Vikram is preparing for his next film, Thangalaan, which will be helmed by Pa Ranjith.

Actor Vikram, after giving a major hit through ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is now shooting for his 61st film with director Pa Ranjith. Titled ‘Thangalaan’, the story and plot of the film is about the struggles that Indians went through at the gold mines in KGF under British rule. The film’s digital rights have been reportedly sold to the international OTT platform for a whopping amount. According to reports, the film’s post-theatrical digital rights were sold for Rs 35 crore.

The movie is based on a true event and the filmmakers last month released the title teaser the video has piqued the interest of the movie audience over the movie. Director Pa Ranjith reportedly worked on the story script for nearly 4 years before finalizing it. Vikram sports a rugged look in the movie and it went on floors in December 2021.

The film’s producers recently revealed the title teaser, which has sparked the curiosity of moviegoers in the production. The movie is based on a true story. The tale script reportedly took the director Pa Ranjith close to 4 years to complete. The film, which began production in December 2021 and stars Vikram, has a rough aesthetic.

The movie is now under production and is anticipated to release in theatres in the summer of 2023. The leading characters in the film are played by Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Harikrishnan Anbudurai. The movie’s score was written by GV Prakash.
