The second part of ‘Ponniyin Selvan‘ is all set to release next week. The second part of the film, which has been made into two parts of Kalki’s famous novel that came out in five volumes, will be screened. But earlier there were comments that the work written by Kalki in five parts could have been a web series with more than two seasons instead of being limited to two.
The director is answering this. He replied, ‘Even if I want to make a web series like that, who would give me such a long date?’ I am also a fan of Kalki’s book. It has deeply affected me. My film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is an interpretation of how much the story influenced me, Mani Ratnam said. In 1994 and 2011, Ponniyin Selvan tried to make a film, but both times the project did not go as planned. It’s impossible to condense a five-part book into a movie. Had the film been made then, it would not have been able to do full justice to the story.
