Since it opened in theatres on September 30, the historical drama “Ponniyin Selvan” in Tamil has earned more than Rs 400 crore at the box office. Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai play the key roles in the Mani Ratnam-directed film. The story, casting, and technical components of the movie have all gotten rave reviews.

The film’s cinematography and editing were done by Ravi Varma and Sreekar Prasad, and AR Rahman composed the soundtrack for it. Editor Sreekar Prasad recently disclosed in an interview that “Ponniyin Selvan” had a significant shift in its plan from what was initially determined only when the movie was at the post-production editing stage.

Sreekar Prasad reportedly remarked that Mani Ratnam believes in emotions and genuine moments and that it was difficult to edit the film with the essence when discussing editing the movie “Ponniyin Selvan” in the interview. He also claimed that because the movie was set in the past, the entire production had to be slow-paced, that it was crucial to concentrate on the villains and the war scenes, and that it was crucial to ensure that a similar type of combat shot was not utilized elsewhere in the picture.

He allegedly admitted that the film’s screenplay was changed during editing. He claimed that the beginning of the film was originally supposed to introduce both the three male and female characters, but it now only opens with Vikram playing Aditha Karikalan. In order to introduce Jayam Ravi as Arun Mozhi Varman only in the second half, he claimed that the concept had to be altered to meet the idea of narrative. He reportedly added that there wasn’t a clear need for an interval in the movie, but they eventually discovered an emotional reason to include the flashback of Vikram and Aishwarya Rai’s previous relationship.

As many people didn’t notice the song “Sol” in the film, Sreekar Prasad explained that it was originally intended to introduce Trisha as Kundavai but was subsequently dropped because it would interfere with the story of her meeting Karthi, who plays Vanthiyathevan.
