Director TV Chandran Receives Prestigious JC Daniel Award

Esteemed director T.V. Chandran has been honored with the prestigious J.C. Daniel Award for his significant contributions to the film industry. Chandran’s films, marked by their social responsibility, have consistently challenged societal corruption and degradation. His rebellious spirit and commitment to social issues have made him a prominent figure in Malayalam cinema at international festivals. His film “Ponthanmada”, starring Mammootty, earned him the National Award for Best Director. Chandran’s filmography includes notable works such as “Krishnankutty”, “Hemavin Kathalarkal”, “Alice’s Quest”, “Ponthanmada”, “There Must Be Memories”, “Mankamma”, “Sussanna”, “Danny”, “Lesson One A Wailapam”, “Kathavasation”, “Attumkooth”, “Wailapankpurpuram”, “Bhumi Malayalam”, “Shankaran and Mohan”, “Bhumidhi Haarikis”, “Mohavalayam”, and “Pemila”. He also penned the screenplays for all his directed films, earning him six national awards and ten state awards.

Chandran left his position at the Reserve Bank to pursue a career in filmmaking. He began his journey in the film industry as an assistant to the renowned director P.A. Bakker and starred in the well-known film “Kabaneenadi Aadiyapolle”, directed by Bakar and produced by Pavithran.Born to M.K. Narayan, a tea estate worker in Valpara, and Srideviamma, Chandran is married to Revathi, a native of Tirunalveli, and they have a son named Yadavan Chandran.
