Deepika Padukone was first cast as the heroine in Sandakozhi; Lingusamy said he was fired after hearing the reward

Lingusamy is a director who has made a name for himself in the Tamil film industry with a string of hits. Lingusamy’s arrival was 22 years ago with the Mammootty film Anandam. Lingusamy’s Sandakozhi was also a hit. Lingusamy says that Deepika Padukone was initially considered for the lead role in the film starring Vishal and Meera Jasmine. His response was in an interview with Tamil channel Touring Talkies in 2019.

Then came the role of Meera Jasmine. Sandakozhi was released in December 2005. As soon as the film was noticed, Meera got busy in Tamil as well. Meera’s first Tamil film was Lingusamy’s Run.
