Starring Ajay Devgn and Kajol, three top national awards were given to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Film Awards on July 22. Ajay received the National Film Award for Best Actor, while Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior also received awards for Best Popular Film, which offers family-friendly entertainment, and Best Costume Design. Note that Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, and Sharad Kelkar all played significant roles in Om Raut’s January 10, 2020, release of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
Kajol who played a key role in the film, took to social media to express her gratitude. She shared a photo and wrote, “Team Tanhaji wins 3 national awards. So happy and proud ! Best Actor @ajaydevgn Best Popular film providing Wholesome Entertainment @omraut Best Costume @nachiketbarve #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior”. Her fans too congratulated her in the comments section. A fan wrote, “Congratulations. Truly well deserved!”. Another user wrote, “Sooo proud of you guysss..truly deserved”.
Expressing his reaction to his 3rd National Film Award, Ajay said, “I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya who won for Soorarai Pottru. For those who don’t know, Ajay Devgn won his third National Award for Best Actor. Ajay had previously won the Best Actor National Film Award twice for his roles in the movies Zakhm and The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior marks the 100th film in Ajay’s 30-year career. The movie succeeded in being the biggest hit of 2020. In addition to this, Ajay’s performance as Tanaji Malusare won the crowd over.
